St. Cuthbert's Way September, 2024
Walk from Melrose, Scotland to the holy island of Lindisfarne off the coast of Northumbria, and then end at Durham Cathedral.
St. Cuthbert's Way is a 62-mile heritage trail along the England-Scotland border that connects the town of Melrose, where Saint Cuthbert started his religious life as a monk in 650CE, to Lindisfarne (or Holy Island) off the Northumbrian coast, his eventual resting place and the site of his original pilgrimage shrine.
At Melrose Abbley Cuthbert began his missionary work, which he continued from Lindisfarne when he became abbot there. Consecrated bishop in 685, Cuthbert was an indefatigable traveller and preacher, walking all over his diocese, and spending time as hermit on Farne Island in between, but after only a year, however, he felt his end coming and resigned his office, dying on his beloved Farne. He immediately became a popular medieval saint with devotion centered on his tomb in Durham.
Our two groups of pilgrims will meet at Durham Cathedral on Sunday, 15 September. The first group of eighteen pilgrims will have completed their walk to Lindisfarne the day before. The second group of ten will begin their walk the following day.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land 2022/23
The eleven-day pilgrimage to Jordan, Israel and Palestine took place in December and January 2022/23. The itinerary included all of the expected highlights in Israel and the West Bank. The Bible came alive as the participants walked in the footsteps of Jesus and the Hebrew prophets and kings. In Jordan where participants visited the "lost city" of Petra, Mount Nebo, the Baptism of Site of Jesus, the Dead Sea,and the ruins of Jerash, arguably the best preserved Greco-Roman ruins outside of Italy. More news from this pilgrimage here.
